Shopping In the Laines

We are lucky enough to be in the beautiful city of Brighton in the North Laine.  Lots of changes have taken place in the Laine during the last five years, we were sad to see the loss of the Brighton Architectural Salvage shop which has been at the heart of Gloucester Road for more than 30 years.    Several quirky individual independent shops have opened and are  thriving, here are some of our favourites:

Era - great guys who absolutely love and  know their subject - selling mid-century modern and design furniture, brands such as Ercol, G Plan, Stag and Ladderax and offering a restoration service.  - 48 Upper Gardener Street, North Laine, Brighton BN1 4AN www.era-brighton.com

George McKechnie Antiques - wonderful emporium of antique furniture, glass, mirrors and shop fittings.  George has been in the Laine for more years than we would write and is something of a local fixture.  - 18a Tichbourne Street, Brighton BN1 1UR @george.mckechnie.antiques

Snoopers Paradise - a completely mad and random flea market paradise with over 90+ stalls, expect to stay half a day here!  - 7/8 Kensington Gardens, Brighton BN1 4AL 01273 602558

The Pond - newly taken over and completely renovated pub in Gloucester Road.  Great staff, great beer and great food - what more could you ask? - 49 Gloucester Road, Brighton BN1 4AQ www.thepondbrighton.com

Black Mocha Cafe - absolute life saver for us here at Digs.  Absolutely adore their daily fresh offerings of deliciousness and the hot chocolate is the best in Brighton. - 103 Gloucester Road, Brighton BN1 4AP Find them on facebook Black Mocha Brighton @blackmochaBN1

La Choza - Best Mexican in town!  great food and nice people.  36 Gloucester Road BN1 4AQ www.lachoza.co.uk
